Still ƒrom Adlo Manman by Simone Lagrand and Klēlo

Adlo Manman ° Letter to the forgotten grandmothers is a tribute to ancestors — buried under layers oƒ historic invisibility, colonial dust, and genealogical abyss, who don’t have surnames and sometimes don’t even have a name. How did they look like? How to honor them so that they are never forgotten?

Simone Lagrand

Above is a subaquatic dub I composed, inspired by Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Natural Mystic, which I used ƒor Simone Lagrand’s poem.

When Simone invited me to create with her and sent over her recorded poem, I already had a dub loop that had been waiting on my computer ƒor months. Her voice blended so harmoniously with the composition that, within a few days, Adlo Manman ° Letter to the Forgotten Grandmothers was born — a sound and visual poem woven ƒrom her spoken-sung words, her precious personal archives, and historical archives I gathered online, all digitally immersed in intimancestral waters shimmering with light and love.
